THE LIFE
Goldin photographed her friends and lovers in the downtown scenes of Boston and New York from the 1970s onward. Her slideshow The Ballad of Sexual Dependency, screened at the Whitney Biennial in 1985 and published as a book in 1986, became a landmark of intimate photography. Her work recorded the HIV/AIDS crisis among her circle. She later founded the advocacy group Prescription Addiction Intervention Now to campaign against the Sackler family over the opioid crisis.
