THE LIFE
Parr was a British documentary photographer known for satirical, close-up colour pictures of everyday life. The Last Resort, made in the seaside town of New Brighton, drew both praise and accusations of mocking its subjects. He joined Magnum Photos in 1994 after a divisive vote and later served as its president. He was also a major collector of photobooks and set up the Martin Parr Foundation in Bristol.
