THE LIFE
Abbas Attar was an Iranian photographer based in Paris. Through the 1970s he covered wars and revolutions in Biafra, Vietnam, Bangladesh and South Africa, and from 1978 to 1980 he photographed the revolution in Iran, returning only after seventeen years of exile. He joined Magnum Photos in 1981. His later books, including Allah O Akbar and Faces of Christianity, examined religion as a political and spiritual force.
